Bluebird Suite [2015]

A collection of 16 short pieces

A collection of pieces inspired by Charles Bukowski's quote:

"There's a bluebird in my heart that wants the get out but I'm too tough for him,

I say, stay in there, I'm not going to let anybody see you."

All the short pieces were conceived from a collection of hand painted scores.

Only some of the pieces featured in the recording (10 out of 16)

sons de la journee [2015]

An acousmatic soundscape work featuring field recordings taken over one day. It aims to tell a literal story by setting the scenes of the day with sounds rather than images. It is an auditory representation of the ways in which visual mediums construct a story with images.

George Orwell [2015]

For Vocals and Electronics

An exploration in vocal technique, harmony and development by combining the practices of songwriting and electronic soundscape.

The title "George Orwell" is inspired by the lyrics of the piece that describe having a somewhat ordinary name in a world where you would like to be well known and that George Orwell (being a pseudonym) is a more attractive name.

Vocals and Electronics performed by Gabbi Fusco

One Thought Can Produce Millions of Vibrations [2015]

For Vocals and Electronics

A piece written for the "A Love Supreme" Concert held by the Composition department of WAAPA in honour of the music of John Coltrane.

The lyrics come from the poem that accompanies Coltrane's piece "A Love Supreme." The backing electronics have been created using a recording of Coltrane playing the piece as well as excerpts from an interview he was a participant in.
