Breathe [2016]

For Vocals and Electronics

A piece made in the exploration of different breathing styles and their different sound qualities and textures.

Hypnagogia [2016]

For six violins 

​

A sonic interpretation of the diagrams of nerve activity in the brain during activity, falling asleep and eventually sleep. The graphic score shows different types of EEG lines that the violins respond to (mostly glissandi). It also includes free improvisation sections based on the shapes of neurons and synapses.

Surface Quality [2016]

For Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Guitars, Violin, Percussion and Electronics

​

An exploration in texture and the different timbres that can be explored by both acoustic and electronic instruments. Also an experiment in how performers respond to completely graphic and textural cues from the score.

All You Want [2016]

A simple indie-pop song.

The Sounds: My Lover [2016]

An acousmatic piece developed based on different field recordings from one space (boyfriend's house, hence the title). An exploration of the ways in which field recordings sound different out of context, as is the nature of acousmatic music.  

Don't You Just (Heartbeat) [2016] 

A set of vocal improvisations based on two sets of heartbeat samples, one of an adult and one of an infant. Each improvisation was recorded as a new take and fed off one another to create the harmonies.

It was further explored using live heartbeats and composed song.

Motherese [2016]

For Vocals and Electronics

​

An exploration in the phenomenon of "motherese" which is a word used to describe the tone of voice mothers or anyone use when speaking to small children or babies. It shows the melodic contours of this style of speech with vocal improvisations to accompany in response.
